English Heritage and E.ON working together to tackle climate change
English Heritage and E.ON share an interest in caring for and protecting the environment for future generations.
We are collaborating to inform, explore and deliver initiatives that will make a tangible contribution to reducing the impact of climate change on the communities in which we operate.
Climate Change & Your Home
Traditionally constructed houses are remarkably resilient and adaptable but how well will these buildings react to potentially damaging changes in our weather? How can they be adapted to cut energy use whilst preserving their special character?
This new website provides clear guidance to help you understand the impact of climate change on traditional houses and how they can be adapted safely and effectively. The site also provides advice on how to improve energy efficiency including a section on micro-renewable energy.

Hearth & Home
Domestic buildings account for a third of all energy use and of the estimated 21 million dwellings in England more than 4 million were built before 1919. Surprisingly little is known about how well these traditional houses really perform in energy terms.
English Heritage is developing a research project that will monitor the energy use of several Victorian houses to help us better understand the cost effectiveness of various energy-saving options. The project will also look at how people really use energy and how changes to lifestyles can improve comfort and reduce our carbon footprint.
